Who Gangs Target is a dramatization of an interview with two incarcerated gang members. From the outset, the interviewer establishes that the objective of the interview is to clarify and expose the type of young person street gangs are likely to target for recruitment. Motivated by a desire to help young people, they explain how the gangs operate and describe who their likely target would be. Dressed in prison uniforms, the two inmates share their experiences as gang members. They explain that gang leadership does not truly care about the kids. Their motive is purely selfish. They look for kids who are weak and vulnerable, not those who are confident and strong. The targeted recruits, they explain, are youth who are looking for love, companionship, and respect. Who Gangs Target provides a powerful counter-message to common misperceptions held by youth about gang operations.  (6:55)
